What is the Goa Project?

A unique social experiment that brings dreamers across platforms together for an unconference and a romantic holiday... If you love what you do.

Think beautiful strangers, great minds and sun kissed bodies on the beaches of Goa. All you need is a little imagination. And a BIG dream. Watch it take flight. With a little help from your new friends.

The format of The Goa Project follows the unconference model, where all attendees learn, share, and exchange ideas dynamically. Through crowdsourced topics and open participation, complex problems are solved, relationships are built, and collaborations emerge. Want to actively contribute to define the agenda collectively before you even arrive? Propose a session at The Goa Project 2014 Funnel

The Goa Project 2014 Funnel

Performing Arts

Mexican flamenco heavy metal, indie acoustic rock or electroswing? Bring your dancing shoes and see who ends up playing through the night.

Entrepreneurship

Whether you’ve set up ten businesses or none, here’s your chance to learn from the best. Stories of making and breaking it, practical workshops on how to get started, there’s something for everyone.

Film

A movie is never finished, only abandoned. Fact or fiction, or film-making myth, come watch the best films and documentaries, speak to directors and try your hand at some of it yourself.

Society

The best social projects tackle problems head on, improve lives; come hear some of the best thinkers and doers in the world today show and tell what they’ve done, why they do it and how you can help.

Visual Arts

Art is transcendental: from photography to street art, found objects to sculpture. Try your hand at printmaking, bookbinding and see what’s up in the world of industrial design and architecture.

Fringe

Everything we can’t fit anywhere else goes here. It’s usually the best, too.

Why Goa?

Just show up, and think outside. No box required.

An event like The Goa Project is about going beyond our comfort zones and thinking outside the box. By holding it in Goa, we make it even easier for you. Just show up, and think outside. No box required.

We want to take people out of their steel jungles, and transplant them into the inviting sands and sun of Goa. It sets the tone for open-mindedness, and enables all of us to interact with interesting people in surroundings that maximise the transformational potential of the experience.

The Plan

It’s a creative hybrid of workshops, teach-ins, and roundtables - tossed together with jam sessions, exhibitions, and show-and-tell. There are six tracks: Performing Arts & Music, Entrepreneurism, Film, Society, Visual Arts and Fringe. The agenda for these tracks is created by the attendees before and at the event through our crowdsourced funnel. Everyone who shows up is a potential speaker, and those who don't speak contribute by posting photos, blog entries, podcasts, and video clips of the proceedings.

The Goa Project also builds intimate, personal conversations into the program. Throughout the day, you’ll naturally bond with others through euphoric tastings at the foodie event, inspiring insights at the film festival, and ridiculous dance moves at the after party. If you’re entrenched in amazing conversation when a session ends, take it to the beer and bonfire chats. Exhibitions and entertainment provide fuel to your fiery conversation, and create memories to mark your new friendships.
